Four things worth knowing before you hand a board to a phone
One board, not two
There is no second, mobile version to keep in step. Same address, same permissions, same scheduled refresh – only arranged for the width it is given.
A finger is not a mouse
Tapping a bar opens the level beneath it, the way a click does at the desk. Filters sit on the dashboard rather than in each chart, so one control moves everything – and the fewer of them there are, the shorter the head of the board stays.
Where an alert actually arrives
When a KPI deviates the message goes out, and it is usually read away from a desk. The link in it opens the dashboard in the mobile browser, so the check takes a minute instead of waiting until Monday.

Is there an app to install?
No. A dashboard opens in the browser the device already has. That also means there is no app version to roll out and nothing to update on hundreds of phones.
Do we have to build every dashboard twice?
No. One dashboard has one layout, and that layout adapts to the width it is given. A change you make at the desk is the change a colleague sees on the train.
Which widgets read badly on a small screen?
Wide tables and charts with a lot of categories mean scrolling and are better opened on a larger display. Which type carries which figure is a subject of its own – Visualization works through it.
Can anyone holding the link read our figures?
No. The same sign-in and the same permissions apply on a phone as on a workstation. A device shows exactly what the person using it may see, and nothing beyond that.
